Sing with CVCC

Do you love to sing? We’d love to have you as part of the Chippewa Valley Community Chorus! We are getting ready for our 2024-2025 season.

How it works:

CVCC is open to anyone over the age of 18. There is no audition necessary. We provide all of the music and resources needed to be part of the chorus. The Chippewa Valley Community Chorus maintains a policy of non-discrimination and welcomes all participants regardless of race, gender identity, creed, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran, or marital status.

How Being a Member Works:

  • Membership is $35 ($25 for college students with student ID). Full and partial scholarships are available! Please email us at info@cvcommunitychorus.org for support.

  • We rehearse on Tuesday Nights 7 pm - 9m starting January 7, 2025. Our concert will be held April 13, 2025.

  • Our regular rehearsals are at Trinity Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls (201 W Central St, Chippewa Falls)

  • While it is not required to be at every rehearsal, we do ask that if you think you might miss more than 3 rehearsals that you check with our Music Director Lindsay Pogorzelski before you sign up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question #1:

I won’t be able to attend a few of the rehearsals. Can I still be part of the choir?

Answer:

Yes! This year you can miss up to THREE rehearsals and still be part of the choir. We will be providing rehearsal tracks for every song, and we ask that you learn / practice what we covered that rehearsal on your own, so you are prepared for the next rehearsal.

Question #2:

I love to sing but I can’t read music. Is that a problem?

Answer:

Not at all! We will give every member of the choir music to follow along with – even if it just the words but reading music is not necessary. On every song, we will explain what the sheet music is saying and after a while I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out how to “read” the music well enough to follow along.

Question #3:

I’ve never been in a choir before. Do I need to have experience?

Answer:

We welcome all experience levels! Anyone who would like to sing is welcome to be part of the choir. If you are new to the choir experience, we will teach you all about it!

Question #4:

I don’t know what voice part I am. What should I do?

Answer:

Our music director will be at the first rehearsal and can help you figure out what will be the best voice part for you to sing this year.

Question #5:

I would like to be part of the choir, but I can’t stand to sing. Can I still participate?

Answer:

Yes! We will always have chairs available in rehearsal and we will be providing stools and / or chairs for anyone who may need to sit as part of the performance.

Question #6:

What happens if we have bad weather? Will we still have rehearsal? Will rehearsals be rescheduled?

Answer:

Generally, no. There is enough buffer built into the schedule to accommodate bad weather. However, if we are getting close to the concert (such as our dress rehearsal) and we must cancel due to bad weather, the options will be evaluated, and we may choose to reschedule a particular rehearsal. In that situation, we understand that schedules are tight, and we will be accommodating regarding absences.

Question #7:

Do I have to buy a uniform?

Answer:

No. We do ask that choir members wear “concert black” – a full black outfit (black top, black pants / skirt, etc.) for our concert. We will have member T Shirts available this year, but you are not required to purchase one.

Question #8:

What does my $35 fee cover? Do I have to buy my music?

Answer:

The $35 fee covers operating expenses for the choir – staffing, supplies, rehearsal space rental, marketing materials, etc. The music folders and the sheet music will be provided by the choir and must be returned at the end of the concert.
