YOUR Community Chorus
The Chippewa Valley Community Chorus was founded in 1978 by members of the community who wanted a place for people to come together and create music. Now over 45 years later, we are still going strong.
The original mission included singing great masterworks like Handel’s Messiah or Vivaldi’s Gloria, but over time we have opened our selections to music that tells the stories that are part of our community. Whether we are singing pieces from these great masterworks, selections from a beloved musical, a piece written by a Chippewa Valley composer, or even an 80’s rock song - we are still doing the work of that mission from 45 years ago: Using music to bring us together. Our music brings together not only those onstage but also those in our audience. Sharing music does not mean just being a singer or a musician. We can share music with everyone. It is important to us that the music we choose to share as part of our concerts represents our entire community - no matter your gender, race, religion, age, education level, financial status, or your musical ability, we are proud to have you as part of our community chorus family. We want the music we share to connect with as many people in our community as we can. Most importantly - we want the music we share to tell the stories of all the people in our community. Finding in those stories what we share, not what makes us different. That is the true definition of a community - a group of people that have a characteristic in common. We want to find ways to celebrate what we have in common and celebrating what we share through song. That is our continuing mission here at CVCC. We hope to be doing that for many more years to come.
We are proud to be YOUR community chorus.
